Welcome to 8th grade! Eighth grade is the year that we start to bring the students together as a class. Class officers are elected for the first time and activities are planned as an eighth grade class as much as possible. The teams are red and white in honor of the Crestwood colors. Our goal is to prepare the students for transition to the high school with the supports that are available through the team concept of the middle school. The following teachers will be working with the students in their eighth grade experience: Math – Mrs. Cole or Ms. Iskra or Mrs. Sherman Science – Mr. Gerrity or Mrs. Kellner English – Mr. Lawson or Mr. Zurawski or Mrs. Jefferson Civics – Mrs. Bruno or Mrs. Kline Reading – Mrs. Kane or Mrs. Benjamin Spanish – Ms. Spencer French – Mrs. Schwartz Health and PE – Mr. Jeckell or Ms. Carr Art – Mrs. Lovett FCS – Mrs. Wenner or Mrs. Zavacky Tech Ed – Mr. Morris Music – Mrs. Costigan Physical Education and Health: All students will be given a gym locker and lock to keep their possessions. It is strongly suggested that all students keep their PE clothes, sneakers and deodorant in this locker. PE clothes consist of athletic shorts or pants, socks, and sneakers that can be easily tied. We do not allow sleeveless, low-cut or halter-style shirts. Shorts should have a hem that exceeds a student’s fingertips while arms are at his/her side. Deodorants must be roll-on or stick. We cannot allow aerosol sprays for health and safety reasons. Lock – In addition to their gym locker, students will be issued a regular locker for their coat and books. They need to place a lock on their locker to protect their books and personal items at all times. Students should give the extra key or combination to their homeroom teacher in case it is forgotten. Locker assignments will be written on the student’s schedule. $3 Hall Pass/Handbook/Planner - We ask that you use the school provided planner with hall pass and school handbook. It is only a $3 for the CMS planner. Writing utensils - Every class requires a writing utensil, so make sure to get lots of pencils, pencils, pencils and more pencils, plus a few black pens. Binders - It is a good idea to either buy the binders in an assortment of colors or to get the kind that will allow the student to slide a cover sheet down the front or side to identify the binder’s subject easily. Students will also need about 20 dividers total for their binders. Paper - Each core class asks that you buy a pack of filler paper for each quarter. Book covers/sox – To protect your books since they cost about $60 each Overall 8th Grade Supplies List ¥ 5 One inch binders (assorted colors or with slide in cover sheet) ¥ 1 USB (flash) drive ¥ 1 Quad ruled composition book (graph paper pages) ¥ 5 Packs of filler paper each quarter ¥ 2 Locks for lockers (1 for gym, 1 for regular) ¥ Many Pencils ¥ 1 Box of black pens ¥ 6 Book Covers/sox ¥ 1 45" wide material (1 1/2 yd for shorts OR 2 1/2 for PJ pants) ¥ 1 Thread ¥ 1 Yard of Elastic (1" wide or less) ¥ 1 Box of straight pins ¥ 1 Stick or roll on deodorant ¥ Gym cloths – sneakers, socks, athletic pants or shorts, shirt ¥ $3 for CMS Planner/hall pass/handbook
