WATCH OUT FOR SCHOLARSHIP SCAMS!
The Federal Trade Commission wants students to be on the lookout for these warning signs of scams:
- application fees or requests for credit card or bank account numbers
- guaranteed winnings
- unusual requests for personal information
- unsolicited opportunities; "You have been selected..."
- large fees for scholarship search programs (most databases can be accessed free through the Internet, your local library or media center)
