Hello all,

I hope this finds you well.  As most of you know already, the Sr. Lock-In Committee is hosting a Designer Purse Bingo on Sunday, November 20 at the Crestwood High School Cafeteria.  In order to make this fundraiser successful, we need help from each of you.

Chris Rowski and I are co-chairing the food for the Bingo.  We need to keep our expenses as low as possible and this is where your part comes in.

We are asking for food, drinks, desserts and paper products to be donated to the Bingo. All food and drinks will be sold during the Bingo and those profits will be deposited directly into our Sr. Lock-In account.

I have compiled a list of what we need below. The Bingo games start at 1pm, and the doors open at noon.  We will need to have everything dropped off at the school cafeteria by 11am that morning.

Please read the details of each item as to quantity, brand and size being requested.  If we need more than one of the same item, it will be listed more than once below.  Feel free to sign up to donate as many items as you feel comfortable with.  If you donate an item in a slow cooker (Crock-Pot), pan or dish that needs to be returned, please have your name and phone number on it.  You can pick these items up that afternoon at the conclusion of the Bingo game.

**IF YOU ARE DONATING ONE OF THE ITEMS FROM THE LIST BELOW THAT WILL NEED TO BE IN A SLOW COOKER, YOU MUST HAVE A PLASTIC LINER IN IT. THE SCHOOL DOES NOT ALLOW STERNOS.  PLEASE DO NOT BRING FOOD IN FOIL PANS AS WE HAVE NO MEANS TO KEEP IT WARM.  ALL HOT FOODS MUST BE IN SLOW COOKERS WITH LINERS.**

If you are not able to donate any of the items, we are accepting monetary donations to use toward the items listed below.

Please look it over and email me individually at jillandmiked@yahoo.com, or text me at 570.574.1709 with what you would like to donate.

Thanks in advance for your help and generosity!

Best,

Update:

Dear Crestwood Senior Parents,

The Designer Purse Bingo being held on Sun. Nov. 20th will hopefully be one of our biggest fundraisers for the Crestwood Class of 2017 Senior Lock-in for the year. But we need everyone's help to make this a successful event!

What we need from our Senior parents is the donation of gift cards. I know many of you have a busy schedule and have not been able to participate or attend the lock-in meetings. This is a great way to contribute and participate. We need the help of ALL of our Senior parents to make the end of the year Senior Lock-in a success ;)

I have attached a sheet of suggested optional gift cards that are usually popular..but feel free to venture off the list. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. All that we ask is that the donation is of $10 value or more. We will be grouping the gift cards/certificates to make them worthwhile prizes. If you have any questions. Do not hesitate to email mlamarcachspta2017@gmail.com or text me 570-301-8435. Please let me know if you would like to donate so we can plan accordingly.

We also need Parent volunteers to help work at the Bingo fundraiser. We need help with set up, food sales, ticket sales, clean up, etc…If you can volunteer your time, please let me know. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

We are also asking for student volunteers to help at the bingo. If your child would be able to volunteer, please have them sign up. FYI for any Key Club students, these are applicable toward your Key Club required hours!!!

We have set up shifts for any student volunteers. Shifts are 10am-2pm and 1pm-5pm.  Sign-up sheets for student volunteers will be in Mrs. Rozitski's and Mrs. Lauhbach's classrooms.

Thank You!

Michelle LaMarca

We will be asking that the senior students, if they are available or can make themselves available, to volunteer at this event. We need the senior students to help wrap all these holiday presents and make it a successful event!! We would ask the volunteers to bring various items, wrapping paper, tape, labels, etc... They can sign up for these specific items on the sign-up sheets.
Please encourage your child to volunteer if they are able. We are looking to foster a sense of unity for the Class of 2017 and promote community giving.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to send an update on where things stand with the Senior Lock-in fundraisers and upcoming events.

At our last meeting it was decided that we will not have our Night At The Races because of the holidays and other challenges.  In lieu of that event we will be hosting a Senior Lock-in Adult Social to be held at the Dorrance Inn on January 21, 2017.  The cost will be $20/pp to include food and draft beer and house wine.  We will also have baskets to raffle.  We need help with basket donations for the event.  Please spread the word!!  Pay at the door!  Contact Suzanne Modrovsky 570-793-3280 or Kim Shermanski 570-430-5458.

HOLIDAY WRAP PARTY - 12/18 from 3-7pm at the HS Cafeteria.  WE NEED SENIORS TO VOLUNTEER!  Encourage your senior to come with their friends and wear their favorite UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER and wrap gifts for the community!  We also need a few parents there to help keep things moving along.  This event is free to the community and donations will gladly be taken.  Please contact Michelle Lamarca to volunteer at mlamarcachspta2017@gmail.com.

HATCHIMAL RAFFLE - The Senior Lock-in has managed to get their hands on one of these highly sought after holiday gifts!  We are selling changes to win!  The drawing will be held on Thursday, 12/22.  Please contact Dawn Miller at dnrm129@aol.com to purchase your raffle tickets!

CANDY BAR SALES--Joan Kaminsky 570-466-7803  Kristen Gegaris--These ladies continue to move candy bars and are doing a wonderful job!  Joan has arranged for us to sell the candy bars at the boys basketball games and need seniors and a couple parents to work the table in the lobby during the games.  Please contact Joan to let her know when you can work.  We really need parents to encourage their seniors to volunteer to help.  Any senior that has volunteered to sell candy at any of the designated locations or events will have their name entered for a chance to win a gift card!  Also--a special shout out thanks to Ed Kaminski for all of his running and delivering of candy bars too!!!!

KRISPY KREME DONUT SALES - Suzanne Modrovsky has volunteered to organize the Krispy Kreme Donut fundraiser in February.  We will begin selling on 2/1--Suzanne will distribute forms.  Money and orders are due 2/17.  Pick up will be 2/23 at the HS Cafeteria-time TBA.

We really appreciate all of the help from everyone thus far--BUT we still need more parents and seniors to get involved.

Dear Parents,

Ellen Gorman the Junior Teacher Advisor planning the SR/JR Prom is looking for student and parent volunteers who would be willing to pitch in and help out on Friday, April 28th  (afterschool) and Saturday, April 29th (morning + early afternoon) to help decorate for prom.  She will be receiving more specific times as soon as she hears back from Genetti’s about their availability.

Mrs. Gorman does have some students from the prom committee and a few teachers volunteering, but more help is still needed. They are hoping to get the bulk of the decorating done on Friday night, so they will only need to do balloons and finishing touches on Saturday.

Please let me know if you could help out to decorate!

Thanks Again!

2017 Crestwood Spring Concert

Location: Crestwood High School Auditorium

Time: 7pm

Hello everyone,

Our next Lock-in meeting will be Wednesday, April 5 at 7pm in classroom 4.

We look forward to seeing you as we begin detailed planning of the lock-in for our seniors.

Thank you,

Nancy Blass

Hello Everyone!!!
Just a quick reminder that there will be CHS PTA Meeting held at 6 pm on Wed. April 12th. We will either be in Room 4 or the library.
Please try to attend the meeting! We have a few agenda items to attend to:
  • CHS PTA Plant Sale - We are kicking off our school-wide annual plant sale. We do need a few volunteers to give the plant sale chair, Tanya Papura, a helping hand on the delivery day of the sale. I have attached the order form to this email. The form will also be posted on the Crestwood website. Please if you can... SHARE this order form with friends and family...that would be WONDERFUL. This is really the only fundraiser we do the whole year for the CHS PTA and it funds the Welcome Back Breakfast, the Teacher Appreciation lunch & Teacher Appreciation week activities...and we also try to support the Crestwood High School student activities when we can!!
  • Nominations for new 2017-2018 CHS PTA Officers - Officers for the 2017-2018 school year need to be nominated and confirmed for an easy transition into the next school year. Positions to be nominated: CHS PTA President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Senior Lock-In Chair. In past years, the President did dual duty as Senior Lock-In Chair. This is a huge commitment and undertaking and it lightens the load for everyone if we can secure a separate Senior Lock-In Chair who would work closely with the PTA president throughout the school year. Please, if you can, get involved ;) Let me know if you are interested in any of the positions. They need to be nominated, voted upon and filed.
  • Teacher Appreciation Week - We need a volunteer or two to chair the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon/Teacher Appreciation Week.Usually, a luncheon is held during the first whole week in May along with snacks and goodies being sent in for the teachers throughout the week. We hope to continue the teacher appreciation luncheon and activities, but we NEED help to continue to do so. PLEASE volunteer if you can. Possible dates and details will be discussed at the meeting.
  • CHS PTA Bylaws - we need to review the revisions and ratify the new PTA Bylaws to be sent in to stay up to date with the PTA requirements.
Other notable ongoing activities:
  • Crestwood Gives Back Food/Can Drive - The CHS Class of 2017 is sponsoring a food/can drive for the month of April. All collections will be donated to the Mountaintop Food Bank. Here is a list of some of the items needed at this time:

Peanut butter

Jelly

Ketchup

Dry Soups

Canned Soups

Canned Vegetables

Canned Tomatoes

Mac & Cheese

Coffee

Other canned or dry food items.

Please support the Crestwood Gives Back food/can drive and have your student donate an item. There will be a marked box or container in the CHS Main Lobby for donated items. Just have your child leave their donation in the box/container. Every little bit helps!

  • CHS Key Club Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser - The CHS Key Club is currently selling Gertrude Hawk Candy Bars for $1 each. All proceeds will go to Lizzy, a Crestwood Middle School student who is currently battling cancer. These are perfect in any Easter basket and also supports a great cause. Please contact me or any Key Club member if you are interested in purchasing candy bars. Peanut Butter, Crispy, Caramel, Milk Chocolate & Dark Chocolate bars are available for purchase.
  • Prom Decorating Volunteers - Mrs. Gorman, the Junior Teacher Representative, has asked if any PTA members would be available to help decorate for the CHS Sr/Jr Prom. The prom will be held at Genetti's in Hazelton on Sat. April 29th. We need volunteers for Friday evening, April 28th,  and possibly Saturday morning/afternoon for last minute touches. I have not been told definite times yet. Please let me know if you are interested.
  • The updated CHS Calendar - The last day of school will be held on Tues. June 13th. The graduation date is scheduled for Mon. June 12th with the CHS Senior Lock-In being held the same evening.
  • Crestwood School Board Meeting - The next school board meeting will be held on Thurs. April 20th at 6:30 pm in the Media Room/Library.
